About X-kote

In 2004, after many years of research, development and extensive testing, X-kote Paint Renewal Systems introduced to the world, the very first hand applied Polyurethane clearcoat. Yes, an actual Automotive/Marine clearcoat that is applied by hand. X-kote is similar in nature and chemistry to today's clearcoats that are sprayed on. The key to this unique technology is not only X-kote's ability to self level completely flat when applied by hand, but X-kote proprietary chemical adhesion process. Typical, clearcoats that are sprayed on adhere mechanically, meaning they rely on a sanded or scuffed surface to adhear. Without this sanding or scuffing process, the clearcoat will delaminate or peel off. X-kote adhesion however, is a chemical process. This type of adhesion is much stronger, and allows for application without sanding or scuffing. It is also 100% consistent, meaning there are no weak points such as around key cylinders or door handles, as you would have with a mechanical adhesion.

X-kote permanently repairs heavy scratches and scuffs, and brings faded, weathered, sand blasted paint and gelcoat back to it's original factory lustre. Application time is reduced to a fraction of the time it takes to spray, resulting in much faster turn around times and considerably lower costs. The end result looks, feels, and is as permanent as the factory coating.

Automotive Paints

Today's automotive paints are typically a 2 stage paint; a basecoat, which has the color and the metallic flake in it, and a clearcoat on top. The clearcoat is like a lens and creates the perception of depth. When that clearcoat is dulled or swirled, not only do you lose the shine, but the paint's depth as well. X-kote brings the clearcoat back to a brilliant shine, and leaves absolutely zero swirls, so the clarity and depth of the paint is absolutely maximized. Gelcoats and single stage paints, without a clear coat, lack the depth of a 2 stage (basecoat/clearcoat) paint. When X-kote'd, they have an incredible deep wet look. X-kote also gives single stage paints and gelcoats the UV protection they lack. UV damage is the primary cause of fading and oxidization.

Boats, RV's and Airplanes

Boats, RV's and Airplanes are commonly painted with gelcoat or a single stage paint without a clearcoat. These paints have very little UV protection, and as a result, they tend to oxidize and fade very quickly. Until now, the only answer was to continually buff the surface, which is very temporary. X-kote not only renews the finish, it also gives it far superior UV protection to stop it from oxidizing and fading. Many comment the shine and finish is better than new.

Because X-kote is an actual clearcoat, it will last for many years, unlike a wax, polish or sealant that will soon wash or wear off.

X-kote and the environment

In today's green conscious world, X-kote is an incredibly efficient and green alternative to re-spraying. As X-kote is hand applied and not sprayed, coverage is maximized and wastage is greatly minimized. An entire panel such as a bumper, can be completely covered with less than an ounce of X-kote. This is a small fraction of the amount of clearcoat you would need to spray that same panel, resulting in far less harmful greenhouse causing V.O.C.'s being emitted into the atmosphere.
